My art background

I have been drawing since I discovered anime at a very young age. (2005?) Copying Naruto and Bleach screencaps made me really fall in love with anime very early on.

I went to art school and in 2012 I discovered digital art trough a friend, and I am completely self taught in digital art. Like in most schools anime art wasn't really liked by teachers, so I have always been stuck alternating between ralistic and anime styles. And I have hated all my attempts at semi realism when trying to combine the two. Thanks to this indecisiveness and my perfectionism my social media accounts were always doomed to be deleted, I always wanted everything gone when I was disappointed with my progress. And that stunted my progress even more.

Then I ended up in university hoping that being able to explore more types of traditional media will help me find an answer. But the only thing I really realized is that without a clear goal I was not going to make it, nobody was really holding my hand anymore. The teachers in uni were extremely uninvolved in our projects, we were left on our own to do our things and as someone who wasn't sure what my thing was I started burning out. And starting to do commissions really sealed it.

Not being happy where I was I started really working on myself mentally, I am finally in a spot where I can be happy if I drew anything at all even if I dislike it. I'm set out to explore art again, find what I like and draw for myself again.

I want to share my thoughts and hopefully help people not fall into the same pits that I did while exploring and learning art. As someone who experienced it I want to help you be more confident in yourself and the journey you are on while learning.
